Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead the financial operations of our organization in Novato, California. This role demands a strategic thinker with a strong grasp of financial reporting, compliance, and budget management. The ideal candidate will play a critical part in ensuring accurate financial oversight while fostering collaboration across teams. Responsibilities: - Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. - Coordinate the development and monitoring of operating, capital, and program budgets, providing detailed reporting and analysis. - Oversee daily accounting operations, including cash flow management, internal controls, and financial recording to support organizational goals. - Implement best practices for fiscal management, cross-team communication, and streamlined workflows. - Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations by staying updated on applicable legislation and taking appropriate action. - Supervise and train accounting staff, providing hands-on guidance and oversight of daily processes. - Collaborate with external tax preparers to ensure timely and accurate tax filings while maintaining compliance with regulatory deadlines. - Evaluate and enhance financial systems, including accounting software, initiating upgrades or new implementations as needed. - Present financial data using dashboards and visual formats to improve accessibility and understanding. - Support senior leadership with budget proposals, project finance insights, and compliance reporting. Requirements - Bachelor's or Master's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. - Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management roles. - Proficiency in auditing, budget processes, and general ledger management. - Strong ability to analyze financial statements and prepare accurate reports. - Expertise in cash flow management, including forecasting and reporting. - Demonstrated skill in budgeting and financial planning. - Knowledge of compliance requirements for local, state, and federal regulations. - Experience with financial software systems and their implementation or upgrades.
