Specific Responsibilities Of This Position:
Description: This Experienced Safety Specialist is integral to supporting the implementation and maintenance of safety programs aimed at ensuring a safe working environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting risk assessments, assisting in the development and delivery of safety training programs, participating in safety audits and inspections, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
This position reports to the Head of Workplace Services, is the primary SHE specialist for multiple R&D facilities and works collaboratively with the Lead Safety Specialist and other members of the Workplace Services team. The work environment will vary from office setting, research laboratories, and automotive garages and approximately twenty percent (20%) travel is expected.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
• Conducting basic risk assessments and hazard analyses.
• Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
• Assisting in the development and delivery of safety training programs.
• Documenting and reporting safety incidents and near misses.
• Participating in safety audits and inspections.
• Supporting emergency response planning and drills.
• Monitoring and maintaining safety equipment and supplies.
• Collecting and analyzing safety data to identify trends.
• Collecting and reporting hazardous materials-related data to state and federal regulators.
• Collecting and reporting safety and environmental data to the company.
• Maintain and update site-specific emergency response action plans and procedures.
• Provide SHE technical support for site specific initiatives and projects
• Safety and environmental compliance/project duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
Minimum level of education required and required field of study:
2-4 years in manufacturing, automotive, or industrial operations experience with involvement in SHE programs.
Minimum skills required:
• Basic understanding of safety regulations, standards and programs (OSHA, EPA, IIPP, SPCC etc.).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and plan daily work in an unstructured work environment.
• Able to work in both corporate office and field environment
• Able to carry a company provided cell phone and respond as needed for emergencies.
